What mobile actually means at a York address

York isn't one kind of address. Downtown it's usually the curb outside a row home. In Spring Garden or East York it's a driveway. Out toward Dover or Red Lion it's a driveway with room to spare. At work it's a corner of the lot. What decides the job is the ground under the car, not the neighborhood.

What we need from you

  • Year, make and model
  • What the car is doing, and when it does it
  • Where the car will be parked
  • Flat, firm ground — a paved or concrete surface, not loose stone
  • Enough clearance to open the doors and raise the car
  • The property's OK if it's a managed or shared lot
  • Keys, and a way to reach you while we work

What we bring

  • The parts for your job, quoted before we drive out
  • Scan tools and testers, not guesses
  • Jack, stands and the hand tools the job needs
  • A cleanup — the old parts leave with us

Not sure your spot works? Tell us the block or the lot when you call and we'll say straight away whether it's fine, or whether it's easier to meet you at work instead.

Where we go in York County

York County isn't one place. It's a small city of tight streets and row homes, a ring of boroughs around it, and a lot of township road in between. We drive the whole spread.

In and around the city: York, East York, West York and Spring Garden. North and west of town: Manchester, Dover and Spring Grove. South: Dallastown and Red Lion. Out west, Hanover.

That's the part of York County we're in most weeks, not the whole map. The full service area covers more of York County plus Lancaster County. If your town isn't named anywhere on the site, call or text and ask — we cover a wider radius than any list when the job justifies it. Some outer townships may carry a travel surcharge, and you'll hear about that up front rather than at the end.

How a visit goes

Three steps, and the car never leaves your address.

1

Tell us what's happening

Call or text with your year, make and model and what the car is doing. You'll have a real quote for your vehicle before anyone drives out, and it doesn't move once we're standing there.

2

Pick a time

Book online and choose your own slot, or set it up on the phone. Same-day and next-day appointments, seven days a week. Tell us where the car will be sitting so we know what we're walking up to.

3

We work where you parked

You go about your day. The car gets tested before we leave and the spot gets cleaned up. You get 12 months on parts, 90 days on labor. Settle up once it's done — cards, cash, Zelle, or Venmo.

Not sure which service you need?

Describe what the car is doing. We'll tell you which job it is and what it takes.

York mobile mechanic FAQ

What parts of York County do you cover?

York city and the boroughs and townships around it: East York, West York, Spring Garden, Manchester, Dover, Spring Grove, Dallastown, Red Lion, and out west to Hanover. We cover Lancaster County too. If your town isn't named on a list somewhere, call or text and ask, because the radius we actually drive is wider than any list.

What can you do at my address, and what needs a shop?

Brakes, diagnostics, batteries, starters, charging systems, spark plugs, filters, belts and fluid services all get done where the car is parked. Alignments, tire mounting, transmission rebuilds, body work and state inspections need a shop. We're not a state inspection station and we don't pretend otherwise.

How does booking work?

Two ways. Book online and pick your own date and time, or call or text and we'll set it up in the conversation. Either way you get a confirmation by text or email. Same-day and next-day appointments are normal, and we work seven days a week.

What if you get partway in and it can't be finished at my address?

It happens, and it happens most on diagnostics, because you don't always know what you're dealing with until the scan comes back. You get the diagnosis in plain language, the reason the repair needs a lift or a bay, and the name of somewhere that does that work properly. We'd rather hand a job off than do it badly in a driveway.

I can't stand outside for the whole job. How do you reach me if something comes up?

You don't have to be out there, but you do have to be reachable, because nothing extra gets done without a yes from you. If the scan turns up a second fault, or a part underneath is worse than it looked from the outside, we call you before we go any further. Leave the keys, go back inside or back to work, keep your phone where you'll hear it, and we'll text when the car is done. The old parts are sitting there for you to look at when you come back out.

What will it cost?

It depends on the vehicle, which is why you won't find numbers posted here that we'd only have to walk back once we see what you drive. Tell us the year, make and model and what the car is doing, and you'll have a real quote for your vehicle in the same conversation.

Get it fixed in your own driveway.
